In September 2024, ROOTKey partnered with Vodafone Portugal to launch Audit to Change, an innovative project that integrates decentralized digital certification into Vodafone's internal ticketing system. This solution leverages blockchain technology to enhance data integrity, transparency, and audit readiness across Vodafone’s internal operations.

In highly regulated environments like that of Vodafone, ensuring that all operational data — especially incident and request logs — is authentic, tamper-proof, and auditable is critical. The challenge was not just about storing data but proving its reliability and meeting stringent audit requirements at scale

ROOTKey developed and implemented a blockchain-based solution integrated directly into Vodafone’s ticketing system. The goal was to automate the certification of operational events, boosting confidence in the records with decentralized validation. By leveraging blockchain’s inherent features of immutability and transparency, ROOTKey was able to offer a secure and efficient approach to event certification.

Key features of the ROOTKey solution include:

• • Seamless API integration between Vodafone’s ticketing system and ROOTKey’s blockchain infrastructure
• • Automatic digital certificates generated with hash and timestamp for each event
• • A custom ROOTKey analytics dashboard for real-time monitoring
• • Immutable records ensured by public blockchain technology, providing audit trails that can’t be altered or tampered with

The impact of the solution was evident early on in the project. Within the first six months of the pilot phase:

• • Over 410,000 operational events had been certified
• • A peak of 64,000 certifications in a single day
• • 148 active users were engaged and actively monitored through the ROOTKey dashboard

These numbers demonstrate the scalability and effectiveness of the solution — it’s built to handle large volumes of data and users while maintaining high levels of security and efficiency.
